Titanium is a leith metal with good metallurgical characteristics. When exposed to oxygen Titanium creates a layer of ceramic like oxygen film(TiO2) which protect the material against wear and corrosion.

As the material is biocompatibel it is often used as implant -also pacemakers. Also Titanium is often used in aerospace industry.
